OVERVIEW
The Alvarez family wanted to modernize their home's lighting without tearing up walls or leaving visible wiring behind. They were looking for a layered lighting approach — recessed general lighting, accent lighting for art and architectural features, and full smart-home control from their phones.
THE CHALLENGE
The home's original wiring wasn't built to support smart switches or dimmable circuits, and several rooms lacked neutral wires at the switch box, a common blocker for smart lighting retrofits. Routing new lines through finished ceilings without damaging drywall added another layer of difficulty.
THE SOLUTION
We ran new dimmable circuits room by room, using fish tape and minimally invasive access points to avoid unnecessary drywall repair. Smart switches were installed throughout, paired with a central hub, and we grouped recessed and accent lighting into separate circuits so each room could be tuned independently for mood and task lighting.
